Winterin' Alone

Everett Brisendine

At times you are so lonesome,
When you are livin' all alone
In this ole house,
The place you call a home.

At times it is so quiet and
You are the only one here.
The sounds of raindrops on the roof
Is like music to my ears.

You would welcome anybody
To stop in when they come by.
And you think of the old days
It brings tears to your eyes.

You keep the fire a goin'
Till it is time to go to bed,
Then get down in the blankets
And cover up your head.

You have played a little fiddle
And read again the old books on the shelf,
But you don't know what lonesome is
Till you winter by yourself.
